A New Year’s Prayer
May God make your year a happy one!
Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;
Not by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people and their causes need you most,
and by making you anxious to be there to help.

when it will be led by Mrs Sheila Hance.

Wed 31^st New Year’s Eve: Open house at David and Judy's. We will have a ‘bring and share’ meal and see the New Year in together - all welcome. Starting at 7.30pm

An Evening With George Verwer Founder of Operation Mobilisation Saturday 3rd Jan 2009 7.30pm at Trinity Methodist Church, Wisbech. A retiring offering will be taken for the work of OM. Organised by Wisbech Baptist Church.

Please remember in your prayers: Dot Young in Pilgrim Hospital (ward 5a); Margaret Johnson in the Welland Hospital; George Austin who has been unwell; and other friends who are continuing to recuperate from surgery or ill-health.

Please pray that we will be able to continue God’s work in 2009 now that our Minister, Revd David Hughes, has retired; that God will help us in our endeavours to keep a witness in this village.

BMS Prayer guide for UGANDA Pray for:-
Sunday Pastors in the remote regions of Uganda as they seek to minister to their congregations many who are struggling to meet the most basic needs.

Monday The Ugandan Christian Lawyers’ Fraternity (UCLF) based in Kampala. Remember especially director Annet Ttendo who has many responsibilities.

Tuesday Steve and Caroline Sanderson with their daughter Hannah as they support the legal work in different ways and are involved in their local church.

Wednesday 2009 to be a year when many children of the world will no longer feel under threat of being abused or trafficked for exploitation.

Thursday Matthew and Anna Price and their son Barnabas as they are involved in the work within the prisons, as well as in their local community and church.

Friday Graeme and Jenny Riddell in the west of Uganda, involved with legal education to both community leaders and in the local schools.

Saturday Displaced people in Uganda existing in often very poor living conditions and with little food and fresh water.

“Lord, let this year be filled with the things that are truly good—with the comfort of warmth in our relationships, with the strength to help those who need our help and the humility and openness to accept help from others.
As we make our resolutions for the year ahead, let us go forward with great hope that all things can be possible—with Your help and guidance."
