I wonder how you greet the New Year?
With regret for the things that you've done;
for words that you spoke that were hurtful;
were there thoughts that should not receive room?
We all make mistakes as we travel
and our natures incline towards sin;
some people make wild resolutions
that they break as the new year begins.
I've never been one for such actions
for I know my own weakness too well.
In my own strength I can do nothing
and I have failed too often to tell.
The New Year is now spread before us.
It's a blank page all snowy and white;
we set out together to cross it
and we have to take care what we write.
The New Year ahead is a challenge -
ask yourself what would God have me do.
Because if we set out without Him
we will regret it the whole year through.
We know that our God is a great God
who is eager much blessing to give.
If we will just trust Him to guide us
what a wonderful year we will live.
So let us set out on the journey
with our eyes on the Saviour above
for He is just waiting to bless us
and to shower us all with His Love.
